Amazing Place
There are so many amazing places in the world, but I think this place is my favourite one. It’s Roraima “flat” mountain. It’s located in eastern Venezuela (on border with Guyana and Brazil). It’s 2,810 metres (9,219 ft), and it’s the highest of the Pakaraima chain of tepui plateau in South America and the biggest “flat” mountain in the world. First described by the English explorer Sir Walter Raleigh in 1596. Do you know why it’s called “flat” mountain? That’s because its shape looks like table. Almost the entire surface of the summit is sandstone with only a few bushes and algae. It has many unique species that’s hard to found in another plateau, such as pitcher plants (Heliamphora), Campanula (a bellflower), and the rare Rapatea. It rains almost every day of the year, it makes this mountain is clear from the pollution. To get its top, there are 2 ways, first way, you can go by walking through the way that the Venezuela goverment made or if you want the extreme one, you can go by climbing the mountain, but this way isn’t recommended because the cliff is too precipitous to climb. Roraima mountain is began to known when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the fiction novel “The Lost World”, in this novel Conan Doyle as a botanist Everard Im Thurn and his friend Harry Perkins explored in the Roraima mountain to find the prehistoric plants and research about dinosaur’s life, they are the first people who get the top of the Roraima mountain on December 18 1884. And if you ever watched “Up” film, you would know that film is taken in Roraima moutain.
